碩士 === 樹德科技大學 === 應用設計研究所 === 93 === This study is discussing the forming of space elements and concept. By Lao Zi says：“Thirty spokes meet at a nave; Because of the hole we may use the wheel. Clay is moulded into a vessel;Because of the hollow we may use the cup. Walls are built around a hearth;Because of the doors we may use the house. Thus tools come from what exists, But use from what does not”.Sustains exist in an object, emptiness is as lining, existence and non-existence elements are linked in the space.   The emptiness involves direction and process in space, it announces the basic attribute of space, and brings various forms within space perception.There are mediums between space and space, people and people, and materials and materials. The mediums are like connective tissue in cells, combining cells and organs. Emptiness is like people exist outstandingly in materials, the relationship between object and sustains are abstract. Emptiness is entirely unreal like In-between space, it is a medium between form, size dimension, depth, turning in the course of an event, it is vague and no fixed position.   The source of extensity is not only related with space style; the construction knowledge of space is mainly from people and environment. People and materials have changes of distinguishing characteristics, they maintain an opposing position. Emptiness is extendedness of space, it exists actually space, different styles have be divided naturally in design territorial. It implies historical or present culture and society concept, connects the development of design technique and improvement of science.   Defining space has been a question in daily life, linking of visible and invisible and surrounding in daily living. the perceptual and rationality of design and the traditional and present have been hided in space. Being not continuous and continuous of space of home and abroad decide direct and indirect. While mentality faces conversion of transition, within the space application of the present time, in order to accommodate the function.this study is trying to such emptiness and design system. they express out inner, outer, depth and shallow based on words, and experiencing existence meaning and value of space medium.
