Summary:碩士 === 東吳大學 === 日本語文學系 === 93 === Close and otherness in love It centers on Haruki Murakami c Siyu Fu Graduate School of Department Japanese Language and Culture Abstract This thesis is consideration of the close and otherness in the love of the Murakami work centering on 'NORWEGIAN WOOD' of Haruki Murakami. In 2003, 4.5 million copies of a work of 'NORWEGIAN WOOD' which was announced in June, 1987 have been sold. Supporting from a young reader is enumerated as a reason why this work sells. How of hero "I" with others as acting as a passive stand point as a “Listener” accepted by a lot of young people. It characterizes and the close of the "I" is enumerated. It is possible to visit the close that shuts oneself up in own the world for "I", others cannot have the interest for that, it becomes in considerate to others, and it appears. The lack of understanding of this "I" becomes otherness and it reflects in the other party. An absolute difference was felt between us, and otherness was as if it drove back, and refused the other party more strongly in the love relation to hope for integration with the other party in the other party. In other word, the impossibility of love was being drawn by the close and the otherness of "I" as for the love relation drawn by 'NORWEGIAN WOOD'. It was clarified that it was common to how with Murakami's full length work before 'NORWEGIAN WOOD' to draw love. Murakami's concern is shifted from detachment to the commitment since 'NORWEGIAN WOOD', and it can be said that 'NORWEGIAN WOOD' is a work that became Murakami's turning point.
