Description
Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 西班牙語文學系研究所 === 93 === Abstract Juan Rulfo was one of the most important authors in Mexico. He did not have many works left, but each of them is a fine piece of writing due to the fact that he stressed on the quality of works than the quantity. Pedro Pramo, Rulfo’s masterpiece which was published in 1955, took him only four months to finish it. The masterly and innovated writing skills in this novel, which were taken as models by many other authors, achieved the popular trend of Magical Realism, and affected deeply the literary arena of Latin America. Pedro Pramo is considered a milestone of Magical Realism. “Solitude” is the theme of Pedro Pramo. We can find it from the plots and the roles. Rulfo tried to reflect practically the social phenomenon and the personal feelings by expressing the solitude in the novel. This is the motive which I choose it as the topic of my research. I try to analyze the relationships between the solitude and the plot of the novel from different perspectives in the thesis. Generally speaking, it is divided into four aspects: the solitude and the writing, the solitude and the definition, the solitude and the plot, the solitude and the sensation. Through the thesis, I hope to have more readers pay much attention to the novel, and to benefit the development of the literature of Latin America.
