Goal of this investigation was to provide the preliminary understandings the health-related fitness, exercise behavior and psychosocial characteristics of young adults with DCD. Four hundred and seventy-four young adults (207 males; 274 females, 18-21 yrs-old) were randomly sampled from 4,937 freshmen of one university in Taiwan to took a 30-s rope-jumping test (mean±SD=54±15; mode=55). The age- and gender-matched participants who jumped < 24 (mean-2SD, n=13, poor group, PG), >84 (mean+2SD, n=12, good group, GG) and =55 (mode, n=13, fair group, FG) jump/30-s were recruited, respectively. Three groups achieved the 11-12 yrs-old level of Movement Assessment Battery for Children (MABC) , health-related fitness test, exercise stage classified questionnaire (constructed by Marcus & Simkin), exercise attitude questionnaire (constructed by investigator) and the Chinese version Basic Personality Inventory (BPI, constructed by D.N. Jackson). The MABC score of PG (194) was not only significantly higher (unpaired t-test, p<.05) than FG (132) and GG (133) but also indicated that every one in PG was a DCD adult. Although no significant difference was found between of PG i.e. DCD adults, FG, and GG in the health-related fitness, negative exercise cognisance, lack the motive of exercise, and lesser regular exercise behavior of PG were observed. In addition, PG underwent higher psychosocial stress than their peers. In summary, the young DCD adults in Taiwan experienced high psychosocial risks and expressed negative exercise cognisance and behaviors. Theresa Chyi 祁業榮 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 80 zh-TW
