In addition, the study attempts to understand the relationship among the singles’ marital attitudes, martial belief, and marital commitment. Using “Snowball Sampling”, 467 single Taiwanese men and women aged 25-35 were selected as the sample population. A questionnaire was constructed for collecting data. The instruments used include” Marital Beliefs Scale”,” Marital Attitude Scale ”,”Marital Commitment Scale”. Data was analyzed using “Students’ t-test”,” F-test” and “Pearson product-moment correlation”. After analyzing the data, it was discovered that there are gender differences of marital attitude and marital commitment. Also, there are no difference between subjects with partners and subjects without partner on marital attitudes, marital belief, and marital commitment. There were significant difference on marital attitude, marital belief, and marital commitment among subjects with different education level. Subjects’ careers also made a slight difference on their marital attitudes and marital beliefs. In correlational results, there was slightly positive relation between their marital beliefs and marital attitudes. The same applied to their marital beliefs and marital commitment. However, marital attitudes and marital commitment were moderately correlated. Finally, the researcher discussed the results of this study, proposed suggestions, and hopes to provide “pre-marital counseling courses”, which can fulfill the needs of the marriage-ready population in Taiwan. These courses can also be applied to counseling and future studies. Keywords:single men and women, marital beliefs, marital attitude, marital commitment Sieh-Hwa Lin 林世華 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 137 zh-TW
