This study also discusses the interrelations of the above mentioned and the differences shown because of various backgrounds. Questionnaire with two research tools is adopted to carry out this study. One is self-made “scale of thinking tendency” and the other one is John Tung Foundation’s “scale of melancholia of Taiwanese”. Subjects are 12 graders from both National senior high school and Taipei county senior high school. The total collections of the questionnaire are 169, among which are 126 male students and 43 female students. Based on the questionnaire, research uses one-way analysis of variance and regression analysis to analyze the statistics. The following is the summary of the research result. A. Anger, arrogance and suspicion in the teenagers’ thinking tendency are significantly related to different schools, while greed and fascination are not. B. Gender, ranking of siblings and parents’ discipline are not significantly related to the teenagers’ thinking tendency. C. Arrogance and suspicion in the teenagers’ thinking tendency are significantly related to the level of melancholy, while greed, anger and fascination are not. D. Types of school, gender and parents’ discipline are not significantly related to the level of melancholy. E. Ranking of all siblings has significant relationship with the level of melancholy. The middle children have higher possibility to suffer from melancholic, the next are the eldest children, the youngest children and the only one child. F. Greed, anger and suspicion in the teenagers’ thinking tendency has no strong relationship with learning performance.. G. The level of melancholy in teenagers shows negative correlation with learning performance which shows the higher the level of melancholy, the worse their learning performance . After discussion, which is based on the above mentioned result, researcher offers some constructive suggestions as a reference for school authorities, parents and people who are interested in this topic. In addition, from the outcome of the study, teenagers’ thinking tendency indeed has certain correlation with the level of melancholy and learning performance, which can further encourages researchers to work on the establishment and further discussion of teenagers’ thinking tendency.
