In the first stage of this action research, the manual of career portfolio for high school students is designed and implemented. In the second stage, students’ attitude, cognition and needs of constructing the portfolio are investigated through action research. The motivation of conducting this research is multifaceted, which includes future trends, competition of job market, students’ needs of career transition and development. In literature review, the construction between career portfolio and learning portfolio for high school students is compared and contrasted, and the relationship between career portfolio and multiple intelligences is discussed. In order to fathom the attitude, cognition and needs of high school students through action research, which could be utilized to improve the career portfolio construction program of the target school as well, several activities and programs are designed and implemented. The result shows that it is necessarily to establish career portfolio for high school students academically or vocationally, realistically or idealistically. Besides, after analyzing the purpose, schedule, process, content, effect and the ultimate presentation of the construction, it is obviously that career portfolio is helpful for the outward manifestation of personal traits, experiences, achievements, ability and skills, and the connection of personal education and future vocational requirements, and the successful transition of career development. As for the students’ attitude, cognition and needs toward the construction of career portfolio, it is helpful for changing the attitude toward and enhancing their understanding of the significance of career portfolio. It has also been found that over fifty percent of students have difficulty constructing the portfolio owing to the inabilities of computer operation, profession ability, autobiography writing, career exploration, little essay, and study planning etc.. It has also been found in the research that language expression incapability would result in the difficulty of autobiography writing, and bad time management also would affect the learning effect, and that it is highly preferred for students to access the internet for abundant career exploration information. Finally, several suggestions are made concerning education policy, school management and future research direction as follows: 1. Vocational New Curriculum should be integrated into the Nine-Grades -Comprehensive Curriculum and put equal premium on career development education and the construction of career portfolio. 2. School resources should be integrated and all faculty should cooperate with each other to help student recognize the importance of portfolio construction and multiple intelligence cultivation and learn to take the initiative. 3. It is suggested that future research focus on the follow issues: follow-up of the participants, the form of career portfolio construction, survey of the future career options for students.
