The inherent viscosities, solubility properties, thermal properties and dynamic mechanical properties of the polyimides were investigated. First, the polyimides derived from 1,1-bis(4-(2-hydroxy-4-aminophen- oxy)phenyl)-1-phenyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethane, had inherent viscosities of 0.48~0.83 dL/g. The obtained polyimides were readily soluble in N,N'-Dimethylformamide (NMP) , N,N'-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc), m-cresol, o-chlorophenol, Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and cyclohexanone. The differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) reveals that the glass transition temperatures ranged on 261~315℃ and 284~333℃, respectively. In addition, the temperatures of 10% weight loss in air and nitrogen ranged on 465~486℃ and 438~449℃, respectively.
