His works have received widespread acclaim, including notably numerous Children Literature Awards in China and Yang Huan’s Children Literature Award in Taiwan. His works are significantly artistic, educational with fun. Through change and influence in an unobtrusive and imperceptible manner, his verses guide children into a pretty and pleasant world. This Thesis is composed of five chapters: Chapter One “Introduction”: It elucidates motivation and purposes of study, as well as scope and methodology. It assembles literatures regarding Wu Ran. Chapter Two “Wu Ran and Children Prose”: First of all, it probes into his childhood and the backgrounds of his entry into children literature. He won widespread acclaim because of his exceptional devotion. In turn, he converted himself from a worker into a well-known essayist of children literature and verses. Subsequently, it looks into his works, from the Children Prose similar to verses in the initial phase, juvenile journeys as well as essays and short theses, demonstrating Wu Ran’s creative styles and increasingly extensive evolution. It also looks into his construct of creation to be aware of Wu Ran’s own demand and expectation to the creation. Chapter Three “Contents of Wu Ran’s Children Prose”: It looks into the style of Wu Ran’s Children Prose, theme and methodology of expression. In four major categories, i.e., “Delight Sketches”, “Philosophic Pieces”, “Travel Notes Prose” as well as “Miscellaneous Articles”, it analyzes the contents of Wu Ran’s Children Prose. It analyzes three major issues, i.e., “Progress of Life”, “The Minority Ethnic Races Retreating to the Arcadia” and “The World Viewed through Enlightened Eyes”. These represent Wu Ran’s soul. Chapter Four “Style of Wu Ran’s Children Prose”: It analyzes into the light rhythm of rhetoric and multifaceted charms, fantastic attractions and elegant attributes found in Wu Ran’s Children Prose. Structurally, it takes a clue to link up the contents, adopting “scenery before sentiment”, “events before sensation”, “consequence before causes” as the most skilled conception and arrangement. Chapter Five “Conclusion”: It concludes the characteristics of Wu Ran’s works which are enriched with childlike innocence and fun.
