This research method included the Questionnaire Survey and the Visit Investigation. Use random Sampling to sampled 23 elementary schools health and physical education learning area teachers from Taitung, and with the “Taitung elementary school health and physical education learning area teacher’s teaching difficulty and professional competency questionnaire” as the research tool. The questionnaire delivered for158, retrieve for 145 and availability for 139, about 90% rate for available. All the questionnaire data used SPSS 10.0 statistical software to describe Statistical analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation. This research also had 4 health and physical Education learning area teachers to semi-structured interview. This research had the following conclusions:(1)The Taitung elementary school health and physical education learning area teachers had middle teaching difficulty.(2)The Taitung elementary school health and physical education learning area teachers’ professional competency was good.(3)The elementary school health and physical education learning area teachers compared with their different sexuality, marriage, physical education credit hour, whether or not to direct school athletic team and whether or not to part-time for administrator ,there had obviously gap in teaching difficulty.(4)The elementary school health and physical education learning area teachers compared with their sexuality, age, marriage, seniority, physical education credit hour and whether or not to direct school athletic team ,there had obviously gap in professional competency.(5)The elementary school health and physical education learning area teachers‘ Pearson Correlation level from their teaching difficulty and professional competency had very obviously .According to the research result presented suggestion to education administration and school administration, elementary school teachers and the future research.
