The main purpose of the research is designed to discuss the situation of parents’ participation in school education. The research integrates school activities to present the phenomenon and the reflection of this school parents’ education participation action.
In order to achieve the above research goal, researcher takes Lang-Tao Elementary School, Lan-Yu, Tai-tong County as the research object and extends to the community. Action research was employed to analyze and understand. Observations, interviews, and documents analysis were used as research to school’s administrators, teachers and parents in this study. Based on the research, the conclusions are drawn up as follows:
1. 「Education participation」to parents
(1) Parents of this school have the education expectation
of "the strong body”, "the fair treatment", "dares
to challenge", and "the consistent tribe culture".
(2) Parents need to guide in order to show this school
parents’ education participation manner.
(3) The most way of this school parents education
participation are 「volunteer of general affairs」,
「Parents- Teachers Communications」,「Homework
supervision and assistance」,「By chance
participation」,「Decision-making participation」.
(4) The most major difficulty of this school parents’
education participation are "the factor of time
“and” insufficient self-confidence ".
2. 「Education participation」to teachers
(1) Teachers have the feeling of "lacks the ability to do
what one would like" to parents’ education
participation manner.
(2) Teachers approve the function of parents’
participation.
(3) Teachers should act the assistance to motivate
parents’ education participation.
3. The change of motivation action
(1) The administrators can understand situation of the
parents’ education participation, and plans, revise
course of action by way of the mutual recognition,
under the "listen attentively to" and "feed-back "
principle interaction,
(2) The teachers can realize necessity of "the initiative
strategy" to assist parents’ education participation
under the "motivation" and "draw forth" principle
operation.
(3) This school and focus parents can influence the other
parent to participate in this school education
together by way of “exaggerating strategy ".
(4) The learning achievement and activities what students
present "the convection strategy" can give the
positive power of change to parents and students.
4. The reflection
(1)There was environment limit which was unable to overcome
at this school.
(2)The value-added of parents’ participation is to
introduces the outside resources.
(3)The self- role of actor receives the confirmation in the
action.
(4)Teachers initiative enthusiasm infect parents.
5. The promotion suggestions for this school parents’
participation
The first is to promote to understand school (community)
culture by holding on job training for teachers.
The second is to simplify desk work and let teachers go back
to the profession.
The third is to introduce community talented person and build the content ofparticipation space.
The parents’ participation lists as an evaluation item of the school evaluation.
Teachers motivate parents on own initiative, administers provides the support.
The sixth is to enhance parents’ knowledge and confidence by holding on parenting education.
The seventh is to integrate school and community resources.
6. The suggestions for the advanced research in the future
The first is to research the class affairs model of aboriginal parents’ participation.
The second is to combine "the quality" and "the quantity" research technique.
The third is to expand the object of research.
The fourth is to expand and deepen the research subject.
