Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺東大學 === 教育研究所 === 93 === The main purpose is to explore the current situation analysis in transitional services and issues for the adults with mental retardation. The researcher collected data from 224 clients will use the subjects whose ages are over 18-year-old adults with mental retardation in Hualian-Taitung areas. Most of adults with mental retardation will encounter two important problems, first are job and life; the others are family care pressure and placement. Recently, this is the key trend of special education for adults with mental retardation in 「career development」 and 「transition」, especially for the career transition education. Moreover, elder society will become major problems all over the world. Older adults with mental retardation will live longer because of progress in medical care, hygiene, and nutrition. The research tool will be deeply studied and edited the questionnaire by researcher in「The Current Situation in Transitional Services and Issues for Adults with Mental Retardation Survey」.This survey consists of four construct factors: “health care service”, “adult life service”, “employment adjustment service”, and “community learning service” through the examination of factor analysis. Then by adopting purpose sampling interview, it can enhance the research data which are poor contents. All questionnaires will be collected and processed by SPSS for window 10.0. The final data analysis and procedure will be adopted times distribution, average, percentage statistical analysis, factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, etc.
The finding of the study were as followings:
(1) Besides “health care service” dimension, the primary caregivers have high satisfaction for their mentally retarded clients.
(2) The primary caregivers with above college educational background have high satisfaction for their clients with mild mental retardation at “employment adjustment service”. Most of primary caregivers preferred selecting from “the mentally retarded institution” in “transition prepare”
(3) The predictable variables on transition services and needs in prediction of transition services offered, this construct factors have statistically significant relationship with the 10 variables respectively and the correlations of prediction were from 2.4% to 6.4%.
Discussions over findings of the study were offered and some suggestions and for the future study.
