Abstract
The study examined the attitudes of the elementary teachers toward that students with disabilities stay in the regular classrooms, and to contrast the positions of the teachers with different educational back grounds.
In order to achieve the purpose, this study methodologically adapted literature review, questionnaire survey and semi-structured interview, the elementary teachers were surveyed with the questionnaire, "the attitudes to the student with disabilities at regular classrooms of the teachers in elementary schools " designed by the researcher. The study sent 318 copies of questionnaire, limited in Kaohsiung county. There were 277 valid responses.
T-test, and one way ANOVA, were employed to process and analyze the collected data.
Semi-structured interview was also used as a complementary data- collecting method.
The study had come to the following conclusion.
1. The elementary teachers with different genders and ages have no significant differences on the attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
2.For the elementary teachers with or without experiences in teaching resource room, there are no significant differences on the attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
3. The elementary teachers with or without experiences in teaching self-contained class have significant differences on the attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
4. For different educational back grounds of the elementary teachers, there are significant differences on their attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
5. With different teaching years and sizes of the school of the elementary teachers, there are no significant differences on the teachers’ attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
6. In the school with or without special class (self-contained class, resource room) of the elementary teachers, there are no significant differences on the attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
7. In the class with or without lower students with disabilities, medium students with disabilities, most (the most) students with disabilities of the elementary teachers, there are no significant differences on the teachers’ attitudes of the students with disabilities at regular classrooms.
According to the conclusion, the researcher made some suggestions.
