碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 社會工作學系 === 93 === This essay is about the process of a research team, which the author participated in. A narrative analysis is used to re-construct the story of its group process first, and then to interpret how the group dynamics changes critically. The purpose of this essay is to understand through participation how human generates new knowledge through an effected process of its group dynamics. The action research team worked with child abusers for one year to increase abusers’ motivation of participating in therapy. Passing the “following”, “chasing harmony”, and “elaborating” stages, the team ended in the chaos of child protection welfare system with “confusion”. Accordingly the action research team members were encouraged to involve in the real social context. Unavoidable the research team is affected by the external system. The research team was failed to realize the group dynamics, and adopted group defense mechanism to deal with dynamic issues, such as authority and divergence. They neither established a consensus on the research goal, nor aware of been trapped into the power struggle of outer welfare system. Unconsciously the team was possessed of a similar social position and emotional experiences of abusers. In this essay, the author tries to interpret the process of the action research team critically, and comes to several comments and suggestions on action research method, group dynamics, and social work education for further studies.
