Through this website, fifth graders could do outside-school web study and elementary music teachers could design and plan their personalized rhythm database. Based upon results of literature review and needs assessment survey, the researcher did the website function analysis. The needs assessment survey was based upon statistics of 35 questionnaires sent to music teachers in the Taipei County for surveying their needs of the function in an interactive multimedia website of rhythm teaching. Following this analysis was the website construction including website design, development and implementation as well as website evaluation by experts, teacher users and student users. The structure of the interactive multimedia website of rhythm instruction consisted of dynamic web pages and multimedia program. The dynamic web pages included account management and score showing; the multimedia program included six sub-parts of understanding notes values and notes relationship, aurally selecting rhythm, aurally grouping rhythm, tapping rhythm, creating rhythm and designing question databaise. 8 experts, 25 music teachers and 34 students joined the website evaluation. Results of the evaluation showed that experts and music teachers thought the multimedia program design and web pages were well constructed and its contents could achieve what it claimed to teach and that students found the operation of this multimedia program was easy to understand and could help them to achieve learning goals as well as to promote their motivation for rhythm learning. This website could go on to evolve or could further be used to investigate the real teaching effectiveness of its interative game-based web teaching materials.
