Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立台北師範學院 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 93 === Abstract The beginning of a semester is a critical time for classroom management in kindergarten. A good foundation of classroom management for the entire semester depends on whether teachers can help young children adjust to the environment quickly and learn good behaviors, attitude and work ethics. Strategically guiding and helping new students adjust to school each year is the unique work that kindergarten teachers face. The purpose of this research is to solve the difficulties young children in mix-age class face when adjusting to school life. Through the help of classroom management, teachers help young children to quickly get use to learning and enjoy coming to school. 14 young kindergarten students who just began schooling in the kindergarten where the researcher works in were chosen as research subjects. It is wished that the young children who just began schooling may quickly adjust to school life with the teachers’ appropriate and strategic guidance through observing teaching, interviewing students’ parents, using life checklist and student file evaluation, and the teachers’ constant review, revise, and use of literature data in the process. Four findings are listed in the following: 1. Understand the adjustment of young children in mix-age class demonstrated in “picky eating,” “lack of comprehension skills in listening and speaking,” and “anxiety in facing strange new environment.” 2. Enforce the teaching strategies of classroom management in mix-age class 1. Having twice as many older children than younger ones in mix-age class helps in successful school adjustment and classroom management. 2. Co-teaching is beneficial in mix-age class. 3. Corner learning may solve problems of individual differences in young children in mix-age class. 4. Language-immersion programs may enhance young children’s comprehension skills in terms of “listening and speaking.” 3. Factors that influence new students’ adjustment and mix-age class include: curriculum, personnel capable of the concept of mix-age teaching, suitable physical environment, and the type of learning culture. 4. Growth and retrospection of teachers during the research process: 1. Growth of teachers Participating in the research/study process of the action research helps to solve problems in actual teaching. A dedicated theory is the key to successful mix-age learning and students’ adjustment to school life. 2. Retrospection With retrospection, teachers can quickly walk out of the “classroom kingdom.” The process of retrospection during the research process further helps one to understand one’s own pattern of reasoning.
