Four coast areas where Ho-ping island park (outside of abalone culturing pools), Ho-ping island park (in front of pavilion), Ba-Dou-Zih (in front of Chao-Jing park), and Wai-Hai-Siang (east side of the bus station) with the average water depth within 5 meters were sampled from July 2003 to August 2004, with scuba diving. The sampling site areas were 3,202.4㎡ ~ 7,792.5㎡. The density in per meter and total amount of Taiwan small abalones in these four sampling areas are: (Ⅰ)1.4 , 4228 ;(Ⅱ)1.26 , 7334 ;(Ⅲ)0.61 , 2458 ;and (Ⅳ)1.14 , 8883 Algae species of 8 kinds of Division Chlorophyta, 5 kinds of Division Phaeophyta, and 18 kinds of Division Rhodophyta were collected. The total amount of diversity, evenness of algae in these four sampling areas were: (Ⅰ)0.507, 0.342;(Ⅱ)0.545, 0.335;(Ⅲ)0.924, 0.502;and (Ⅳ)0.958, 0.561,respectively. The dominant species in Ⅰand Ⅱ sampling site were : Gelidium amansii, Pterocladiella capillacea, Carpopeltis formosana, and Corallina pilulifera, respectively. The dominant species in Ⅲand Ⅳ sampling site were:Gelidium amansii, Pterocladiella capillacea, Eucheuma denticulatum, and Corallina pilulifera, respectively. The variation of algae species in four seasons were different. Just one kind of Division Rhodophyta had been found in winter, and Division Chlorophyta、Division Phaeophyta、and Division Rhodophyta in another 3 seasons.
