Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣海洋大學 === 電機工程學系 === 93 === Abstract We propose in this thesis the algorithmic enhancements to three well-known block-matching search algorithms for fast motion estimation, namely, the cellular search, the hexagon search, and the diamond search. The improved algorithms are called modified cellular search (MCS), new hexagon search (NHS), and new intersect diamond search (NIDS), respectively. Besides being able to maintain the PSNR at a level close to the originals, these new search methods perform very well in reducing the computational complexity. Simulation results show that our algorithms require, respectively, 40%, 50%, and 35% less computations while keeping the image quality comparable to the original algorithms. As part of the design verification process, we have developed a hardware structure for the new hexagon search algorithm and implemented the circuit with the TSMC 0.35 μm 2P4M cell library. Preliminary design of the chip takes 4.905 × 4.905 mm2 in area and operates at a maximum clock rate of 50 MHz. The estimated power consumption is 168 mW.
