The target is to eliminate the restriction of location and space, so that learning activities can be carried out efficiently in the most suitable place. Instruction facilities designed in this work include power point presentation, E-blackboard, and real-time camera image. The method chosen for data transmission is multicasting. Multicast provides an efficient way for transmitting data from an instructor to a group of students. Unfortunately the popular wireless LAN standard, IEEE 802.11, does not provide any media access control (MAC) layer recovery and guarantee for the multicast service. As a result, the reliability of multicast service over IEEE 802.11 could be degraded as the probability of packet losses caused by collisions and interference increases. This paper proposes a P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing mechanism for reliable multicast in the wireless Ad Hoc classroom. Our mechanism provides stable throughput of the entire network while maintaining acceptably low recovery delay for receivers.
