Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教育經營與管理研究所 === 93 === This study aims to explore the idea, current situation, sources of funding, and strategies for fundraising of principles in public junior high schools. Interview and document analysis are adopted as methods for data collection. Twelve principles are interviewed. Among them, four are from Tainan city, the other four are from Tainan county, and the remaining four are from Kaohsiung county. The main findings of this study are listed as following:
1. The motivation and ability of action of fundraising are essential for principles. Their interest in raising funding from public sectors for building is higher than other private ones only for particular task.
2. In principles’ views, four main sources of public funding are found. Among relevant associations within the schools, parents’ association is targeted as the main source. Outside communities include charity groups through the multiple activities.
3. Six strategies are found in fundraising, which include, 1) to maintain good relationship and interaction network;2) to develop school special features; 3) to release the information that schools need ; 4)to enlarge schools’ inner associations; 5) to adopt the multiple and efficient fundraising plans; 6) to have different strategies depends on different funding sources, areas, and school sizes.
4. The important factors that influence principles’ fundraising include, 1)the willingness in fundraising, personal characteristics and the background;2)the economic situation ,the political system and the social cultures;3)the school location and size. And all these factors will influence mutually and cause different results in fundraising.
According to the results of this study, several recommendations for fundraising and further research are proposed: Strengthening Principles’ willingness and motivation in fundraising since fundraising reveals their personal characteristic. According to school vision, establishing school special features and drawing up short-term, mid-term, and long-term school plans will help school in fundraising. In addition, several ways to enlarge human interaction and relation network are recommended: Firstly, hold the governmental activities; secondly, help school members to understand the needs of funding; thirdly, visit the community, and finally, share the resource with the community. Different strategies, good and multiple fundraising plans will help principles to reach the goal.
For further research, the numbers of interviewees can be larger to cover those schools from different cities and their principles. The quantity approach can be considered as an alternative way to expand the views in fundraising of public junior schools.
