Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 數學教育學系 === 93 === The study is aim at investigating the third grade primary pupils’ performance in number sense. By using the number sense experimental teaching activities, which was developed from the constructing teaching method, the researcher made a study for the progress of the primary pupils’ number sense. The outcome would also be provided as a reference resource for the number sense curriculum development in our country. The focus group in this research is third grade primary pupils. Within thirty-one pupils involved in the research, seventeen of them are boys and fourteen of them are girls. The research outcome was analysed through both the quality and the quantity method. By using the descriptive statistics and contingent T sample examining to analyze the assessing results, the researcher investigated pupils’ performance before and after the teaching. Furthermore, the researcher interviewed two pupils form the lower, the middle and the higher level in order to look into pupils’ progress before and after the teaching. The research outcomes are as followed: 1. Before the number sense teaching, the general performance in the third grade pupils’ number sense is poor. 2. Before the number sense teaching, the third grade pupils performed best in ‘the capability in understanding the meaning and magnitude the numbers’ and they did worst in ‘making use of the consulting point’. 3. Generally speaking, after the number sense teaching, the pupils’ performance in number sense was greatly improved. 4. After the number sense teaching, the third grade pupils had a significant progress in every dimension within number sense, especially in ‘the capability in understanding the meaning and magnitude the numbers’ and ‘the ability to operate numbers by decomposing and recomposing’. 5. After the number sense teaching, pupils in different level were improved in their number sense performance. The middle level pupils had the most obvious progress, and then were the top-level pupils. The progress among the lower level pupils was not significant. 6. The sense number experimental curriculum, which is developed trough the constructing method, is effective in strengthening pupils’ number sense performance and capability. Therefore, it is feasible to put this experimental program in to the grade third mathematical curriculum.
