Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教育經營與管理研究所 === 93 === The main purpose of this study was to explore the current conditions and the relative factors of emotional intelligence and life adjustment of the elementary school students. The study utilized questionnaire and sampled 717 objects who were sampled from forth and sixth grade students in Kaohsiung and Tainan. The survey instruments applied in the study were included “the Parenting Style Scale”, “the Locus of Control Scale”, “the Well-being Scale”, “the Emotional Intelligence Scale” and “the Life Adjustment Scale”. The data gathered from the samples then was analyzed by MONOVA, canonical correlation, and stepwise multiple regression
The findings of the study were as fallows:
1. The elementary school students’ emotial intelligence and life adjustment were above middle degree.
2. The girls’ emotial intelligence were better than the boys’.
3. There is no difference in emotial intelligence between the forth grade students and the sixth grade students.
4. The emotional intelligence of the elementary school students under the authoritative parenting style were better than those of indulgent, authoritarian, neglectful parenting styles.
5. The girls’ school adjustment and interpersonal adjustment were better than the boys’.
6. The forth grade students’ family adjustment and school adjustemnt were better than sixth grade students’; the sixth grade students’ interpersonal adjustment were better than the forth grade students’.
7. The life adjustment of the elementary school students under authoritative parenting style were better than those of indulgent, authoritarian, neglectful parenting styles.
8. The more internal locus of control and well-being the elementary school students had, the better their emotional intelligence were.
9. The gender, grade, locus of control, well-being and emotional intelligence of the elementary school students could predict their life adjustment.
In conclusion, according to the findings listed above, suggestions were made respectively for parents, schools, and further researches.
