There were 114 students’ parents participating in this study, including 56 students in urban area and 58 students in rural area. These parents answered the designed“Family Environment and Learning Situation of Students questionnaire” which included four areas: nurture attitudes and expectations, learning participation, learning attitudes toward school and home, and family leisure activities. The family educational facilities were described as well. The main findings from this study were shown as the follows: 1. The urban families had significantly higher scores than the rural ones in three areas, such as nurture attitudes and expectations, learning participation, and family leisure activities. However, there was no significant difference in learning attitudes toward school and at home. 2. There were significant differences among family types, extended、 core and single-parent families. Only core families had higher scores than single-parent ones in the following three areas:nurture attitudes and expectations, learning participation, and family leisure activities. 3. There were significant differences among various levels of social economic status. The third level had higher scores than the fourth one in three areas, such as nurture attitudes and expectations, participations, and family leisure activities. Moreover, the third level got higher scores than the fifth one, too. The results indicated that families with higher social economics status showed more positively to involve in students’ learning. 4. Educational facilities of the urban families were better than those of the rural ones. Shih-Yi Chan 詹士宜 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 206 zh-TW
