Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 教管所課程與教學(澎湖)碩士班 === 93 === The purposes of this study were: to explore the network literacy and cyberethics of elementary school students, to compare the differences between different background elementary school students, and to examine the relationship between the network literacy and the cyberethics of these students. Students’ attitude toward network literacy and cyberethics was examined by a questionnaire, which was developed by the researcher. A total of 960 elementary school students in Tainan City and Pehghu County were asked to fill out the questionnaire; in addition, 25 of them were selected as interview subjects, in order to get opinions about network literacy and cyberethics. The major findings of this study were described as follows.
1. Analysis of network literacy of elementary school students indicated the following results:
(a) Most elementary school student performs above the average in measuring of network literacy.
(b) Sixth grade students perform better than the fifth grade students in network literacy.
(c) Students in Tainan City possess higher score in network literacy than those students in Penghu County.
(d) The earlier students contact the Internet, the better their development of network literacy is.
(e) Students with a computer connected to Internet at home show a better development of network literacy than students who without a connected computer at home.
(f) The more time students spend on Internet, the better their network literacy is.
2. Results of exploring cyberethics of elementary school students include:
(a) The overall cyberethics of elementary school students are positive.
(b) Female students perform better than male students in cyberethics.
(c) While the fifth grade students perform better understanding about Internet anonymity than sixth grade students, the sixth grade students show better understanding in cyberspace copyright than students of grade five.
(d) Cyberethics of Tainan City students are better than those students in Penghu County.
(e) Students who have used Internet more than 3 years show a better understanding about cyberethics than those have used Internet less than 1 year.
(f) Students with computer connected to Internet at home show better understanding than those having no internet-connected computer.
(g) Students who using internet for 1 to 4 hours each week perform better in cyberethics than those surfing internet less than one hour each week.
3. The result of interview shows that although most students said that they would not do disobey cyberethics things, however, when facing cyberethics issues, they judge the behavior always according to tradition social rule and take individual interests as main concerning. The result also show that most students do not have enough law knowledge and do not understand the responsibilities that behind certain behaviors.
Finally, according the conclusion of this study, suggestion to education administrations, elementary school teachers and further research were proposed.
