Summary: | 碩士 === 國立清華大學 === 化學工程學系 === 93 === In this work, we tried to study how surfactant affect the size of nanoparticles of phytosterol prepared by emulsion method. When using
emulsion-evaporation method, the particle size was found to decreas as the surfactant concentration increased. And smaller particles were obtained when using Tween80 than Tween60. The smallest particle was 40.4nm when using Tween80 , but on the other hand, the smallest size was 119.55nm for Tween60.When using emulsion-extraction method, the particle was almost the same regardless of the surfactant concentration. Here, the nanoparticle size was about 60nm and 150nm for Tween80 and Tween60 respectively.
In addition to nanoparticles,needle-shaped crystals were also obtained the by emulsion method. These crystals were about 500nm in width, and was about 10μm in length. The quautity of neddle-shaped crystals decreased when the surfactant concentration increased. Moreover, Tween60
had better effect on decreasing the quantity of neddle-shaped crystals than Tween80.
When an additional surfactant of carboxy methyl cellulose(CMC)was included, the size of nanoparticle decreased at the Tween80 concentration of 1﹪(w/w). When the concentration of Tween80 was over 1﹪(w/w), the
nanoparticle`s size increased and showed wider distribution as well.
