Three participants were recruited to serve as clients, and matched with three counselors, each group carries out five sessions of counseling. Clients recorded important events memoirs and Session Evaluation Questionnaire(SEQ) after every individual counseling sessions, the information of clients’ conception of important events and session impact was collected by in-depth interviews. Furthermore, the relation among important events and session impact would be analyzed. The major findings were as follows: 1. Clients’perception of the important events in counseling process (1) Clients identified nine kinds of positive important events.The interpersonal cluster included client involvement, reassurance, and personal contact. The task cluster included new perspective, problem solution, problem clarification, focusing awareness, counselor's provision of concrete information, emotion release. Seven kinds of negative events were identified, included negative counselor reaction, repetition, misdirection, the difficulties of receiving and expression of information and feeling, untreated self, ambivalence silence, expectations of counseling were not contented. (2) The important events which clients identified were occurred continually, some events occurred through several paragraphs or whole counseling session. 2. Clients’perception of the counseling session impact (1) Clients’judgments of session smoothness changed extensively in fourth session, clients’judgments of depth upped in second session. On the other hand, clients’judgments of positivity downed in second session. (2) Clients’judgments of four dimensions had affected upon each other dimensions, but the relation among four dimensions was not clear. 3. Relation among important events and session impact (1) Positive important events in task cluster had affected upon session depth, reassurance had affected upon post-session mood, personal contact had affected upon clients’perceptions of counseling sessions. (2) Negative important events had affected upon session depth and smoothness. Suggestions for counseling practice, training and further study were recommended.
