Summary: | 碩士 === 臺中師範學院 === 自然科學教育學系碩士班 === 93 === The history of science and nature of science have been broadly emphasized in the reformation of the education of science in the past years. Nevertheless, either in Taiwan or abroad, there still lacks an agreement on what the history of science and the nature of science is needed in school education. The study, as a result, adopts the Delphi Study, consulting twenty experts/scholars teaching at different colleges in Taiwan, including scientists, scientific educators, historical philosophers of science, environmental educators and education experts. We conclude the history of science and the nature of science should be taught in the education of science in primary and secondary schools through three consultations back and forth.
From our conclusion on the content of the nature of science should be taught in the education of science in primary and secondary schools, there are nine items for primary schools, twenty-two items for junior high schools and twenty-eight items for senior high schools. In the history of science, however, an agreement is still not reached among experts. Therefore, the content for teaching is not concluded for primary schools. The content for the history of science for junior high school is five items and twelve items for senior high schools. The study provides the connotation of the nature of science and content of the history of science needed in the education of science in primary and secondary schools suggested by domestic experts in the hope to be the reference for future textbooks.
