By means of testing194 graded1-6 elementary school students in Taiwan, the author researched into the students’ abilities and types of representation of five basic three-dimensional geometric figures, including the cuboid, the cylinder, the cone, the triangular awl, and the triangular cylinder. Meanwhile, the differences between two genders and divergences among six grades were explored. The new stage of elementary school students’ development of the three-dimensional representation was as well expanded or created. Thereafter, the author was to discuss the relationship between Van Hiele levels of thinking in geometry and the stage of development of the three-dimensional representation of the students tested for this study. The results indicated that: 1. No significant differences showed between the two genders at the representation of drawing five basic three-dimensional figures(the cuboid, the cylinder, the cone, the triangular awl, and the triangular cylinder). 2. The higher grades tended to have the higher stage of representation at the representation of drawing five basic three-dimensional figures(the cuboid, the cylinder, the cone, the triangular awl, and the triangular cylinder). 3. The author was to expand (the cuboid and the cylinder ) and develop (the cone , the triangular awl, and the triangular cylinder ) the new developing stage of three-dimensional representation. 4. A positive correlation was found in the relationship between Van Hiele levels of thinking in geometry and the stage of development of the three-dimensional representation of the students tested for this study. Elementary students with higher van Hiele levels of thinking in geometry were classified into higher stages of the representation of the three-dimensional figures. 碩士 === 臺中師範學院 === 數學教育學系在職進修教學碩士學位班 === 93 === Abstract
The author of this study purposed to investigate the representation of the three-dimensional figures drew by elementary school students.
The results indicated that:
