These sludges are inorganic associated with extremely low organic matter and heavy metal contents. Few studies have focused on the reuse of these sludges in agricultural and ecological functions. Based on the concept of soil quality, it is evaluated to reuse these sludges as the materials in ecological engineering for the basis soil of greening land. Therefore, the cultivated soil will be produced by using the mixture of the alum sludge and floral compost by different ratios to be incubated at room temperature for eight months. Then, the cultivated soil was plant by Bahia grass (Paspalum Notatum F.) which is most popular grass in soil and water conservation, set a date to analyze the property of soil and then harvest Bahia grass. After choosing suitable soil quality indicators, compare the variation of them at different time. The soil properties selected include physical, chemical and biological ones. Physical properties are bulk density and soil aggregate stability, chemical ones are pH, CEC, organic carbon content and exchangeable aluminum, and biological ones are minerable nitrogen, available P and the yield of Bahia grass. The purposes of the study are (1) to understand the basis physiochemical characteristics of alum sludge, (2) to explore their physical, chemical and biological properties of the cultivated soil, and (3) to evaluate the yield of Bahia grass in soil and water conservation. Results indicate that the addition of alum sludge increased buffer capacity, CEC and water stable aggregates of the study soil. Meanwhile, exchangeable Al content of the treated soil and the yield of Bahia grass were consistent. Therefore, the addition of alum sludge with compost in the soil is suitable for ecological engineering in greening land. Zeng-Yei Hseu 許 正 一 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 64 zh-TW
