Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 機械工程系 === 93 === This paper combines finite element analysis (FEA) with experimental modal analysis (EMA), proceeding model verification of the end mill based on vibration characteristics. Both FEA and EMA are performed, respectively, to determine the modal properties of the tool. Theoretical natural frequencies, mode shapes and frequency response function (FRF) can be obtained by FEA. In addition, the natural frequencies, damping ratios, mode shapes and frequency response function of the end mill can also be extracted via EMA. From the verification between theoretical and practical structural modal testing results, mechanical properties of the end mill material can be accurately predicted. The finite element model can then be well validated. Young’s modulus, Poisson ratio and density of the end mill are close to those from literatures. The methodology to determine the mechanical properties of tool material based on the vibration characteristics is feasible. The static analysis and transient response analysis for the end mill can then be carried out. The strength and vibration characteristics of milling tools on milling process will be discussed in future work.
