Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 輔導與諮商研究所 === 93 === The purpose of this research is to study how Reality Therapy Group’s counseling affects drug abusers’ self-control, self-efficacy, and self-concept. The main goal of this research is to design a Reality Therapy Group for drug abusers and to understand how Reality Therapy Group counseling affects drug abusers’ self-control, self-efficacy, and self-concept in short-term period, long-term period, and the period after group treatment with no counseling assistance. The experiment was done on two groups with the same number of volunteers from one of the Drug Rehab centers. There were two groups: experiment group and control group, each group composed of forty-three people with a total of eighty-six volunteers. The experiment group received Reality Therapy treatments for two hours weekly for eight weeks; the control group received counseling courses from Drug Rehab center. Each group was evaluated by “Tennessee Self Concept Scale: Second Edition (TSCS: 2).”, “Drug Abuse Self-control Rating Scale”, and “Drug Abuser’s Self-efficacy Scale”. The evaluation was done before the experiment started, after the experiment finished, and one month after the experiment. The analysis of covariance was used to analysis the data. This study shows: 1. Drug Abuser’s education / work related self-concept’s score significantly improved after counseling; 2. Drug Abuser’s control and concept’s scores and abuser’s inner control and self-concept was different after long-term treatment; and 3. There were not obvious differences for other evaluated items. In conclusion, this research discussed the results according to the experiment and provided constructive suggestions for future researches and clinical drug abuse work.
