In this study, we adopt multi-ring scheduling of STDMA to realize the energy-saving property of STDMA and improve the drawbacks of STDMA – reducing energy consumption using TDMA, increasing the TDMA throughput and decreasing the End-to-End delay based on STDMA, and decreasing the End-to-End delay again by the implementation of multi-ring scheduling. Besides the energy-saving mechanism, we also propose some mechanisms to maintain STDMA. Those are initial slot assignment, procedures to join and exit, slot re-assignment, and synchronization. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the IEEE 802.11 in terms of packet delivery ratio and the amount of energy consumption, achieves the throughput near 802.11, and obtains the End-to-End delay close to the shortest of TDMA.
