As far as the home schooling is concerned, it is very necessary to ally a systematic support association. Through the force of support association, people can do the consulting service to spread their idea. Besides, by the regular meetings, the interactive opportunities between the home schooling children and other people increase. Moreover, the buildup of resource website agglomerates a network society group of home schooling. Parents can cooperate and develop without the limitation of time and distance in the society group.
Although Support groups of home schooling have the service of consultation, resources introduction, and activities offering, they can provide only limited service. Because Support groups themselves are still developing, they are unable to offer a complete resource system to fulfill the need of home schooling families. This study, referring to Support groups of home schooling in foreign countries and the service and the resources by home schooling website, adopts the methods of literature analysis, individual interviews and content analysis to discuss the requirement of home schooling parents to the Support groups and to understand the development situation of Support groups and the plight they encounter. Finally, in reference to the method of foreign home schooling website and in adoption of domestic home schooling parents’ opinions and needs, I set up a education resource website of home schooling. From the result of research, it is found that the service that a support association provides is to be the role of consultation, idea promotion and resource provider. Furthermore, they help the home schooling families build up the partnership of mutual study and company families. By holding occasional activities, Support groups provide parents opportunities to communicate and develop. In addition, the functions that website resource of the Support groups offer include the information of the Support groups’ current status and activity messages. Through the discussion area of bible reading in the website, home schooling parents can easily find the information they want to solve their puzzles in teaching. In aspects of combination of teaching material and publication, parents may quickly search for the resources that needed.
However, the difficult positions that Support groups face with are: the insufficient funds and manpower that influence their various operations and the lack of share of resources and experiences. And, the insufficient counseling and consulting experiences of Huashan Academy cause academy to provide no great help to those parents who have home schooling children. Finally, it is unable to erase the social misunderstanding toward the home schooling. As to support association websites, their inadequate aspects are: no update of the websites content on schedule, unidirectional materials in the website, the insufficient breadth in the classified discussion area, and the inadequacy in sharing real experiences. At last, there is no establishment of various contacted network in the website, but stress on its own activities. All these defects in the website are the factors that effect the home schooling parents to use decreasingly the websites.
The website of home schooling is presented by Blog. Its contents include the home schooling prescript of each city, home schooling articles, teaching resource area, latest news, discussion of home schooling experiences, home schooling Q&A, discussion & exchange, rules of using website, my connection, and home schooling forum.
It is seen that Support groups play important roles. However, the domestic support association is still on developing and cannot provide parents’ demand or help them to solve their difficulties. Therefore, this study proposes some suggestions for support association sand parents’ reference. The suggestions to Support groups are: being a communication platform between schools and educational administration institution, integrating diverse teaching resources for home schooling parents’ usage, and establishing a cooperated partnership among Support groups. As to the suggestions to home schooling parents, it is proposed to well use school and community resources to rich the teaching content, and to participate Support groups of home schooling to exploit the public strength.
