Further, the researcher attempted to investigate the joint predictive capability of children’s gender-role attitudes and division of domestic labor to occupational stereotype. Method of questionnaire survey was employed to collect research data. Participants included 341 high-grade elementary school children and their parents, numbered 682, from Tainan County and Tainan City. The data were processed by means of descriptive statistics, Perason’s product-moment correlation, two-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results of the study were listed below: 1. Fathers’ education level, occupation, and domestic labor participation were significantly related to gender-role attitudes, but were not significantly related to gender-role rearing attitudes. Only mothers’ education level was significantly related to both attitude variables. 2. Parents’ gender-role attitudes, attitudes toward gender-role rearing, and children’s gender-role attitudes of Tainan County and Tainan City tended to be modern, while females hold a more equal-right attitude than males. 3. There was a significant positive correlation between parents’ gender-role attitudes have and gender-role rearing attitudes. 4. There was no interaction effect between parents’ gender-role rearing attitudes and children’s gender for gender-role attitudes of children. The main effects of both independent variables were significant for children’s gender-role attitudes. 5. There was no interaction effect between parents’ gender-role rearing attitudes and children’s gender for division of domestic labor. Children’s gender was a significant variable on division of household labor. Female students shared more domestic tasks than male students. 6. Only children’s gender-role attitude was significantly predictive to occupation stereotype by a multiple regression analysis, explaining for 9.3 percent of the total variance. No other variables were included in the regression model. Suggestions for implication of parental education, school gender equality education, and future study were provided. Hopefully, the results would be informative to parental education. Lin, Chi-Wei 林繼偉 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 110 zh-TW
