Investigator, now teaching Art and Humanity in an elementary school, is very interested in the differences and resemblances of children’s clay modeling strategies. However, the development of children’s three-dimensional modeling is seriously ignored, especially in domestic studies. As a result, investigator is eager to explore the way children model in clay. Subjects are from mid-class kids of two municipal and one private kindergartens, and 1st graders, 3rd graders and 5th graders of three municipal elementary schools. There are 322 kids in total, including 185 boys and 137 girls. The main study is about the characteristics of the development of children modeling forms. This investigation adapts quantification and content analysis is used to understand the diversities among children modeling of different genders and at different ages and then we realize the development of children’s three-dimensional modeling, providing teaching references for teachers. The main purposes of this research are: 1. Investigating the differences and characteristics of the development children modeling at different ages. 2. Investigating the differences and characteristics of the development of children modeling of different genders. 3. Making comparison between the research results and Brown’s (1975) and discover the differences between foreign and domestic children’s development of clay modeling. The research results are: 1. The tests on children modeling of different grades and genders showing significant differences in structure scale is partially supported. 2. The difference in point scale of different graders’ modeling tests is significant. 3. The result is mostly in conformity with Brown’s (1975) research.
