There exists a close relationship between a queueing scheme and Internet applications. With different queueing scheme operating in a gateway over the Internet, Internet applications might receive different QoS. In this study, a priority queueing scheme with a dynamic buffer allocation in an UMTS core network gateway would be proposed to process all UMTS applications packets. For the proposed queueing scheme, an overflow buffer operation would be applied to it. The ideas of RED and weighted round robin schemes are also used in the proposed queueing scheme. According to packet transmission priority of UMTS applications, the proposed queueing scheme would have different parameters settings for UMTS applications. Differentiated packet transmission services would be received by all UMTS applications. UMTS applications with a high packet transmission priority would always get a better packet transmission performance than others UMTS applications. Simulation is used to understand the performance of the proposed queueing scheme. This study use ns2 as the simulation platform. Several scenarios are simulated. After analyzing simulation results, the proposed queueing scheme always provide a better packet transmission performance for UMTS applications with higher priorities. Differentiated packet transmission services would be supported by the proposed queueing scheme among all UMTS applications. Fu, Chen-Hua 傅振華 2005 學位論文 ; thesis 62 zh-TW
