Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 國民教育研究所 === 93 === A Study of Sex Role & Children’s Housework Participation : In Terms of Children’s Gender, Parent’s Occupation & Family Patterns Chiu, Hsieh Jen Graduate Institute of Elementary and Secondary Education, National Chiayi University Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between Children’s housework participation and sex role perceived by sixth graders in Taiwan.The study adopted the questionnaire investigation method. In total, 307 valid subjects were from the sixth graders in Chang-Hua County and they were randomly sampled according to school size. “The Questionnaire of Elementary School Grade Students’ Housework Participation” and “Sex Role Inventory” were used as instruments for investigation.The collected data was analyzed using spss. The major findings of the study are as follows: 1. As to the housework participation, students attend most to the cleaning of their environment, but just few participate in other chores. 2. As to the housework participation, there is no difference between different family patterns. 3. The sixth-grade female students do more housework than the sixth-grade male students. 4. The sixth-grade students whose mother’s occupation is professional do more housework than those whose mother’s occupation is domestic. 5. The sixth-graders tend to take an equal sex role with “personality trait’’, and take a traditional sex role with “toy and game aspect’’. 6. The sex role taken by the sixth-grade male students is more traditional than the sixth-grade female students. 7. In the “Total Sex Role’’and “Toy and game aspect’’,the sex role for the sixth graders living in un-traditional families is more traditional than those living in core-families and three-generation families;and in the “Occupation aspect’’, the sex role for the sixth grade students living in un-traditional families is more traditional than those living in core-families . 8. There is no relationship between sixth graders’ housework participation and sex role. Key words: sixth graders, sex role, children’s housework participation
