The key decisions in each time period considered are: the regular production quantities, the overtime production quantities, the outsourcing quantities and the inventory levels of each product, the procurement quantities and the inventory level of each material, and the expansion capacities. An integrated solution procedure is developed to find a robust simplified production strategy based on the empirical distribution of decision variables and various production-to-demand ratios. The solution provided by the simplified strategy is evaluated and compared. The results of this study confirm the usefulness of an integrated model to support production planning as well as the robustness of the simplified production strategy.
