Abstract
This study aims to investigate the relationship among personality traits, achievement motivation and social adjustment in senior high school student. The study has six purposes: (1) To understand the type of personality traits in present senior high school student. (2) To understand the situation of achievement motivation in present senior high school student. (3) To understand the situation of social adjustment in present senior high school student. (4) To investigate the correlation between personality traits and social adjustment in senior high school student. (5) To investigate the correlation between achievement motivation and social adjustment in senior high school student. (6) To explore predict among personality traits, achievement motivation and social adjustment in senior high school student.
This study used methods of survey research. Nine hundred samples in random were from senior high school student of Taiwan. Instruments used in this study were Personality Traits Scale、Achievement Motivation Scale and Social Adjustment Scale. All the data were put in computer for descriptive statistics、independent-samples T test、one-way ANOVA、Pearson Production-moment correlation and multivariate regression analysis. The conclusion as follows:
1. The main findings in the scale of personality traits of senior high school student as: General activity tends to low; Social extraversion tends to introvert; Rhathymia tends to low; Cyclic tendency tends to low. Other belongs to average.
2. The factor of personality traits in senior high school student belong to average.
3. The type of personality traits in senior high school student as: There were 35.71 % Type A belongs to average; 35.83 % Type C、D belong to good social-adjustment personality traits and 28.46 % Type B、E belong to bad social-adjustment personality traits.
4. Achievement motivation of senior high school student belongs to over middle degree.
5. Social adjustment of senior high school student was best in community-adjustment, the next school-adjustment and the last family-adjustment.
6. There is significant difference for different grade、family –SES of senior high school student in personality traits.
7. There is significant difference for different family –SES of senior high school student in achievement motivation.
8. There is significant difference for different gender of senior high school student in social adjustment.
9. There is a negative relationship between personality traits and social adjustment of senior high school student.
10. There is a positive relationship between achievement motivation and social adjustment of senior high school student.
11.Personality traits and achievement motivation of senior high school student can together predict social adjustment ,but lack the power of explication.
According to the above findings, this study can offer suggestion for parents and teachers as life-guidance, family and school education reference.
