Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 視覺藝術研究所 === 93 === Abstract This is a post-industrial society which is a society of knowledge, information, and media. However, the development of civilization and the advance of science do not diminish people the confusion about individual life and the secrets of the cosmos. The contemporary thought was established on the base of criticism on modernism and it produced a brand new language style and weltanschauung. This phenomenon also happened in modern arts. It is suspicious, uncertain, negative, diversified, compromised; it is not individualized. Also, it is not totally socialized. Actually, it is “de-centralized.” In the research of “the contemporary gaze and integrated creation,” by combining the exploration of theories with the practice of creation, the content of contemporary art was considered. In the theoretic and conceptual parts, the analysis was conducted from the aspects of sociology, philosophy, aesthetics and psychology, and art history and art; in the practice, the personal review and judgment to our living environment and times were added and transformed into a visual creation, as stated follows: A. In Chapter 1, the motivations, objects of creation and research were described. Then, what follow are topics and ranges, methods and procedures, and the last, terminology. B. In Chapter 2, the theoretic base and creation idea were discussed. The contents of the first four sessions are phenomena in different times and societies, philosophic dialectic, aesthetic consideration, and the change of art performance, respectively. A personal review was added in the fifth session as the conclusion. C. In Chapter 3, personal practice of creation was described from the aspects of the exhibition of idea, various contents, diversified types, and heterogeneous media. In the last session, the spirit of integrated creation of contradiction and interaction was summarized. D. In Chapter 4, works were interpreted. The background of each work was described first and then analysis was performed, including direct and deep observation; analysis on materials, coloration, space, and type; explanation on ideology and psychology exploration; and the final: the meaning and value judgment. E. In conclusion, the contemporary spirit of art creation was summarized and integrated with personal acquaintance and discovery to respond to the two confusions in Chapter 2 and 3 and to raise future attitudes and considerations. F. In the appendix, there were six examples for express in “performance method” and “production of base surface.” Keywords: contemporary, gaze, integrated creation, contemporary spirit
