碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 輔導與諮商學系所 === 93 === A Relationships study of Body Image and Life Adjustment among Vocational High School Students Shiow-Hwa Wu Abstract The purpose of this study was to understand the current condition of body image and life adjustment for vocational high school students and to explore the relations between body image and life adjustment. The objects of this research were all vocational high students in Nan-Tou County. This study adopted the questionnaire survey method. Effective questionnaires collected totaled 933. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1. Average height of male and female students were 171.61cm and 156.56cm respectively. All of the students expected 5cm taller than used to be. 2. Average weight of male and female students were 63.92kg and 51.81kg respectively; and 2kg and 5kg lighter were expected. 3. Most student were found on normal body figures ; however, the majority male students expected normal body figure,the female students expected slim body figure. 4. Most students tend to be satisfied with their appearance; however, 11% students were concerned more on overweight and 38% students regard as they were overweight. 5. Male vocational high school students’ degree of satisfaction for appearance valuation and body areas were higher than female vocational high school students. The female students pay more attention to appearance than male students and think they are overweight. Besides, there were no significant differences among the different grades on life adjustment. 6. The current condition of life problem for vocational high school students arrange in order : school life problem; physical and psychology development problem; self-concern problem; family life problem; and personal relationship problem. 7. No sex and grades difference were found on life adjustment among students;however, the better on grades of the students, the beter on life adjustment . 8. Positive correlation between body image and life adjustment were found. A further suggestions and discussions were given. Key words: vocational high student body image life adjustment
