Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among pupils’ background, gender role, peer-relationship, and genders education needs of the junior high students.
There were three different scales used to collect the data surveyed from 1103 participants. The descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation, and regression analysis were used for statistical analysis.
There some results were found in this study:
(1) The junior high school students’ gender role is classified into 4 groups, in which androgynous group is 35.63%, the masculine group is 14.87%, the feminine group is 17.50% and the undifferentiated group is 32.00%.
(2) In the peer-relationship, students get higher scores on “keep promises”, while lower scores on “social skills”.
(3) The junior high school students are arranged the level order by society cognitive, individual cognitive, policy awareness, crisis awareness, and family’s concept sequentially in the sex education needs.
(4) There is significant difference on junior high students’ masculinity and femininity with different gender.
(5) There is no significant difference on junior high students’ gender role development with different gender, different grades, the numbers of brothers and sisters, and parents marriage relationship.
(6) Concerning self-evaluation of adjustment, overall junior high school students show differences in their gender role development.
(7) There is no significant difference on the junior high students’ peer-relationship with different grades, the birth order, and parent’s marriage relationship.
(8) With different gender, different parenting style and concerning self-evaluation of adjustment, there is significant difference on the peer-relationship of junior high school students.
(9) There is no significant difference on the junior high students’ genders education needs with different gender, grades, the birth order, and parent’s marriage relationship.
(10) With different gender, different parenting style, and concerning self-evaluation of adjustment, there is significant difference on the genders education needs of junior high school students.
(11) The development of students’ gender role is positive correlation with peer-relationship.
(12) It can be predicted of gender education needs demand by the peer-relationship of the junior high school students.
According to the result of study, some suggestions are proposed to parents and educational staffs.
