The other purpose is to explore the predictive power of the attitude of the elementary school students with different background variables toward their peers with disabilities receiving Inclusive Education. The cluster purposive sampling approach is used in this study. The students were surveyed with a revised questionnaire titled as “The attitude of the elementary school students in Taichung County toward their peers with disabilities”. The data were collected and analyzed by frequency distribution, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple stepwise regression. The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. The attitude of the elementary school students toward their peers with disabilities receiving Inclusive Education is positive and enthusiastic. 2. The differences of attitudes in elementary school students with different background variables: (1) There was no different attitude among the students of different sex and in different grades. (2) There was no different attitude whether students have ever been class leaders or not. While the students who have ever been class leaders held more positive attitude than the ones who have not in cognition and affection scale. (3) The students who contacted with their peers with disabilities in different levels held different attitudes. The students who usually contacted with their peers with disabilities held much more positive attitude than those who never did in general and in the tendency of behavior scale. (4) There were different attitudes among students at different levels of academic performances. The students at high level of academic performance held much more positive attitude than those at low one did in general and in cognition and affection scale. (5) The students held different attitudes toward different types of disabilities. The students held more positive attitude toward their peers with physical disabilities than those with mental retardation in general and in cognition and affection scale. 3. Among the students’ different background variables, the three variables—levels of contact, levels of academic performance, and different types of disabilities—can predict the students’ attitudes toward their peers with disabilities receiving Inclusive Education. It means the three variables— levels of contact, levels of academic performance, and different types of disabilities—have predictive power. The results of the study summarized above provide relevant suggestions to homeroom teachers, school administrators, and future study for reference.
