Summary: | 碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 比較教育學系 === 93 === The purpose of the study is to compare women academics’ performance in Taiwan and U.S.A. The literature review and semi-structured interview were done to collect the materials. By comparing the materials between Taiwan and U.S.A., some affecting factors were found in Taiwan and U.S.A. First, their works are always interfered by the family duties. Second, women academics, still suffer from “sexual discrimination” in their work. Third, women academics’ images are still affected and modeled by folkways and traditional culture. Fourth, women academics have lower expectation to themselves, and that makes them dispirited easily at the work. Fifth, few women academics are visible in administration system and they have much fewer chances to become leaders.
And there are different affecting performance factors for women academics in Taiwan and U.S.A. First, women academics in Taiwan do not like to move from universities to universities; however, women academics in U.S.A will tend to be lured by better working environment. Second, in Taiwan, women academics have strong support-net around them. But this research can’t find detailed materials to explain whether women academics in U.S.A have the similar support-net.
This study hopes to show the real working situations and difficulties of women academics, and make people pay much attention to women academics.
