Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立暨南國際大學 === 比較教育學系 === 93 === The main purpose of the research is to study the differences of the adjustment mechanism of teachers’ pay in the state school between England and Taiwan. For this purpose, the researcher explores the following five dimensions related to the adjustment mechanism of teachers’ pay: 1. The main factor that influences the system of the teachers’ pay 2. Some related theories and principles about the system of teachers’ pay 3. The changes in the picture of teachers, the system of teachers’ pay and the adjustment mechanism in state school in England 4. The changes in the picture of teachers, the system of teachers’ pay and the adjustment mechanism in state school in Taiwan 5. The differences of the changes in the picture of teachers, the system of teachers’ pay and the adjustment mechanism in state school between England and Taiwan In order to answer the above five problems, I will use historical study, case analysis and statistics description as the methods. Based on the results, I will propose some recommendations to serve the purpose of the research. The main findings are: 1. The main factor that influences the teachers’ pay is whether teachers are considered public officials and the degree of the teachers’ professional development. 2. More& more related theories, such as sociology and psychology, are taken into consideration. We need a comprehensive evaluation which is made by supply- demand, fair comparability and performance-related pay principles to apply to the modern teacher profession. 3. The pictures of teacher, the system of teachers’ pay and the adjustment mechanism in state school in England are heading for professional field. 4. The pictures of teacher, the system of teachers’ pay and the adjustment mechanism in state school in Taiwan are still changing and have no definite directions. 5. The professional standard of the teachers’ is going up in England and in Taiwan. However, there are still great differences in the pictures of teacher, the system of teachers’ pay and the adjustment mechanism in state school. According to the conclusions of the research, I propose the following suggestions: 1. The draft law for teachers’ pay should be withdrawn and the new law should take the working conditions for teachers into consideration. 2. The teachers’ pay should be modified every year. And the procedure should be lawful. 3. The adjustment mechanism of teachers’ pay in Taiwan should be taken into account teacher professional development. 4. The relationship between the mechanism of teachers’ pay and the educational reform requires further study.
