Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 資源工程學系碩博士班 === 93 === This research investigates the change of layered silicate structure of montmorillonite in various conditions such as different types of pulverized agents (water and Kerosene), the shear force of attritor ball milling, pretreat-ment of bentonite (previously hydrophilic and subsequently hydrophobic). The initial mater-ials of bentonite were prepared from the raw clay sampled from Zhang-Yuan area, Taitung of eastern Taiwan. The samples are fine exchanged by sodium hydroxide and then modified by so-called straight chain organic alkylamines (in-cluding the Dodecylamine, Hexacylamine and Octa-decylamine)to exfoliate montmorillonite into single layer organo-montmorillonite powder. The summary of research reports:After pro-long milling of montmorillonites modified with alkylamines under different pulverized agents, their diffraction peak in X-ray diffraction are gradually disappeared. Even with attriting time of 2 hours and 6 hours, the milled products tre-ated by Kerosene hardly showed any X-ray diff-raction peaks during 2θ=1.5~15 degree. The de-gree of exfoliation of modified products also indicated by their expanded layer space form the initially about 1.25 nm to 4.5 nm, even beyond 5.8 nm. Auxiliary instruments such as SEM and TEM images are also leaked out messages about the interlayer distance changes of modified products in this research. The images show that the lay-ered silicate structures of original bentonite become exfoliated or more closed to highly inter-calation. In a word, the final destination of single layer organo-montmorillonite powder are presented from this paper.
