Discussing the relationship between urban design and regional development, it is specialty about land-use and traffic-transfer that shall be noticed at once. Each of the specialized stations within the whole route-web in the city MRT—no matter spatially structural or regionally functional—is to occupy a vital key-spot. Here the O1 station of KRT, one of the discussable stations, is both highly-value recreational as well as located in the Orange Line terminal, so to be gifted with the potentiality of people gathering and multi-modal transferring.  The research is based on the idea of TOD and, with the intent of building up the planning strategy and regulations which result from the needs caused by the establishment of MRT stations, we hope to achieve the compact regional development and economic benefit. In the mean time, it is hoped to suggest some designing guidelines through document-analyzing and case-studying, to shape the proper spatial environment quality and interfacial characteristic of an urban recreation node—the O1 station in Kaohsiung demonstrated here.
