| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 都市計劃學系碩博士班 === 93 === Four major metropolitan areas have been shaped gradually In Taiwan; the total numbers of people in these center cities (Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohshung) are about 6,000,000. This research collect the trends of the population movement and infrastructure built sequence for the past 100 years in the four metropolitan areas to find the urban sprawl patterns in Taiwan, also compared the patterns in Taiwan with other foreign metropolises.
We found that the morphology as urbanized in Taiwan metropolises is almost strip development. The developed habitat along the route in Taiwan is different from observed foreign cities’ discontinuing development, too.
