The 1st phase was comparing the difference of emission behavior between dry/wet substrates and multi-layered BPs under standard condition: T=25℃、RH=50%、L=0.04m2/m3、N=0.5h-1; the 2nd phase was analyzing the characters of the exterior and fringe emission from multi-layered BPs, and calculating the removal efficiency under different air exchange rate (0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.5 h-1); the 3rd phase was establishing the emission experience models for predicting the emission concentration from the multi-layered BPs, which could be references for the strategies to reducing the indoor VOC concentration after decoration. The main results of this study are as follows: (一) Comparisons of the emission characters between the substrates and the multi-layered BPs After the 48 hrs emission testing with substrate(sorbent-based adhesive) and multi-layered BPs (vinyl tile on the substrate) under standard condition, the total concentration of the substrate was 165% higher than the multi-layered BPs, and the average emission factor was 383% higher than the latter. (二) The 3 phases of emission By comparing with the experimental set of exterior and fringe emission on the substrates and the multi-layered BPs focusing on the time-emission variation, there were 3 major phases of emission - fringe emission (0-12 hrs), exterior emission (12-30 hrs) and steady emission (30-48 hrs) - were observed. (三) The removal efficiency of the pollutants emitted from the multi-layered BPs With the test results of the 3rd phase experiment, the concentration reduced with an average of 6.7% when the air exchange rate increased every 0.25ACH. (四) Chamber model for the multi-layered BPs emission After regressing the experience model for the multi-layered BPs and checking the applicability, the double exponential model was approved being suitable for predicting the emission factor and concentration of the multi-layered BP(vinyl tile on the substrate). (五) The application of the emission time-decay predicting model With the test results(N=0.25-1.5ACH) and the Mass Balance Rules, the 2nd Chamber Model could be transferred to IAQ Model for predicting the concentration of the indoor emitted VOCs after decoration.
