In other words, the purpose of this study is to re-examine the traditional spoken-drama prevailing mainly in the 1950s and 60s, the so-called “Anti-Communism Era,” due to the fact that the dramatic literature of the period has been criticized as meaningless and lack of artistic style due to political-dominant themes. The study contains six chapters. Introduction serves as background of the collection and the applied theories. The second chapter focuses on the characteristics of modern drama under the martial laws. The five types of spoken-drama in this collection are plays of anti-Communism, history and old fashion, modern events and children, which are analyzed in the following three chapters, exploring their thematic meanings and artistic styles. The sixth chapter is conclusion, which explains the significant role played by The Collection of Chinese Spoken-Drama in the history of Taiwanese drama. Appendix is composed of three parts: abstracts from the sixty-seven plays are provided in the first part, followed by brief biographies of the forty-two playwrights. And the third part contains the list of modern plays published in Taiwan. Twenty-nine pictures are included in this study. Kuang-Sheng Shih none 石光生 江建俊 學位論文 ; thesis 399 zh-TW |
